Loose Women star Ruth Langsford issued a health update after she was noticeably absent from the ITV lunchtime programme for the third time this week.

The presenter, 63, has been missing from Loose Women after falling ill and has been at home recovering.

Taking to Instagram, the former This Morning star told her one million followers: "Got the Lurgy! So I’ve made myself a hot toddy and I’m going back to bed!

"Lemon, orange, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, honey and a big splosh of Irish whiskey. Let’s hope this does the trick….if nothing else it should help me sleep!"

But it seemed her home remedies weren't as successful as she would've liked as she headed back to Instagram to share another update on Tuesday (August 29).

As she attempted to rustle up some broth, the TV star said in the caption of the video: "Still got the lurgy!

"Got out of my sick bed to make myself some healthy soup though. Gathered what veg I had and added a carton of chicken bone broth – it's delicious!"

After quoting her grandmother's old saying of "that'll put hairs on your chest," she went on to post further ingredients included in the dish.

Friends and fans of the broadcaster wished her a speedy recovery in the comments, with Vanessa Feltz writing: "Wish you better lovely friend," following by a red heart emoji.

"Hope you feel better darling," added TV personality Lizzie Cundy.

Another penned: "Wishing you better soon, Ruth x," as someone else echoed: "Get well soon Ruth."

Despite her illness, that didn't stop Ruth from sending in a complaint to husband Eamonn Holmes while he was working on GB News.

The show was brought to a halt on Wednesday (August 30) as the crew arrived an adjusted his seat on air.

"The reason I’m standing up here, is we’ve had a viewer complaint," the 63-year-old explained.

He later added: "Her name’s Ms Ruth Langsford. And she’s phoned in to say she doesn’t like the position of my seat.

"If I fall off…. is it alright? I don’t know. Push me in, Maria. See people think these things happen easily. Is that okay, Ms Langsford? Is that okay?"
